Who should attend

This course is intended for those who will be involved in installing and maintaining ViPR SRM.


To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have a suitable knowledgebase/skill set. The student must have an understanding of:

  • Basic storage and networking concepts
  • XML content and file composition
  • Monitoring and reporting concepts
  • Basic OS System Administration concepts

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Locate and use the SRM pre-installation, installation, and product documents
  • List the hardware, software, and operating system prerequisites and validate the site and hosts for SRM installation
  • Install ViPR SRM to a qualified site using a multi-server installation
  • Validate the SRM installation using the Watch4net Health SolutionPack
  • Install product licensing and perform basic installation troubleshooting
  • Configure users, roles and profiles and configure authentication with LDAP
  • Perform Frontend and Backend administration tasks
  • Expand the platform and database
  • Install and configure Storage-related SolutionPacks
  • Define SRM and SolutionPack upgrade procedures
  • Verify base reports provided within SRM SolutionPacks
  • Monitor the health of ViPR SRM including troubleshooting and diagnostics

Course Content

This course is intended for individuals who will install, configure, validate, and manage ViPR SRM. Hands-on labs will cover the qualification of the environment, installation, and licensing of SRM. Students will also perform the installation of the Watch4net Health SolutionPack to validate the installation. An introduction to installation troubleshooting will be presented. Hands-on labs will also cover the authentication of users, Frontend and Backend management, and configuration of the SRM SolutionPacks. An introduction to the reports, monitoring, and troubleshooting will be presented. The content of this course is designed to support the course objectives.
